Cao Dai Temple
Cao Dai Temple is a unique kind of religious site 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Cao Dai religion was born from a fusion of Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity and Islam.
The construction was finished in 1955. The architecture of Cao Dai Temple is a blend of pagoda, cathedral and mosque. Admire the colorful building and it’s rococo style from the outside. You’ll be watched by the all-seeing Holy Eye above the main entrance. The Divine Eye representing God is the symbol of Cao Dai. Each color represents one religion: yellow (for Buddhism), blue (for Taoism), and red (for Christianity). Inside, you will meet the gods of each religion in statues.
If you want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere inside the Temple you should follow few rules. You will have to remove your shoes before entering the Temple. If you’re a man, enter on the right side. Use the left side if you’re a woman. As a visitor you can assist to one of the four services hold per day from the upper balcony. You are allowed to take pictures of the ceremony.
There are several Temples in South Vietnam, where around 3 million people are following this religion. However this Cao Dai temple is the biggest in the area.
It is easy to visit Cao Dai Temple together with Cu Chi Tunnels on the same day.
